National Bullying Prevention Week 11-15 August 2025

National Bullying Prevention Week
This year’s theme — Act On It — is a powerful reminder that we all have a role to play in creating safer, more respectful workplaces.

While often seen as a schoolyard issue, workplace bullying is rising in Australia, contributing to our growing mental health crisis. Over a career, many Australians will witness or experience bullying — with serious consequences for individuals and organisations alike.

πŸ“Š The facts:

• Australia & NZ have the highest global rates of workplace bullying — nearly 1 in 2 (47.9%) people affected – double the global average of 21% (Lloyd’s Register Foundation, 2021)
• 39% of women report workplace sexual harassment in previous 5 years compared to 26% of men (Respect@Work, 2018)
• In the NT, 38.9% of serious mental stress claims are due to bullying during 2021-22 (NT WorkSafe)
• Costing Australia up to $36 billion/year — and employers $17K–$24K per case (Productivity Commission, 2010)

Our own data shows that bullying and workers compensation claims are consistently in the top 5 key issues of why clients seek our assistance.

πŸ’¬ Bullying is harmful and costly. But it’s preventable. Let’s Act On It — speak up, support others, and help build workplaces where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued.
