Best Foot Forward Pilot Program

The Best Foot Forward (BFF) Program (pilot) supports women who are experiencing, or have experienced, domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) to:
- Return to work
- Enter the workforce for the first time
- Retain current employment
The program focuses on strengthening workforce participation, financial independence and long-term economic security — key factors in rebuilding life after violence.
Our Approach
BFF delivers client-led, trauma-informed casework tailored to each woman’s individual needs. We work alongside existing services to provide a coordinated, wraparound model of support that considers safety, wellbeing and long-term stability.
Support May Include:
- Community education sessions (e.g. Basic Rights at Work)
- CV writing and interview preparation
- Referrals to specialist services
- Retraining or upskilling opportunities
- Practical support such as clothing and equipment
- Ongoing check-ins after employment is secured, including support during probation periods
There is no time limit on how long a participant can receive support.
Eligibility
The program is available to women who:
- Have the legal right to work in Australia
- Live in Darwin or the Greater Darwin region
- Are experiencing or have experienced DFSV
- Have an existing safety plan (through NTWWC or another service)
- Are work-ready, meaning they are prepared to engage in employment with appropriate support
