Assistance for Women About Work Related Issues

The NT Working Women's Centre provides information, advice and referral for NT women about work related issues such as: pay, working conditions, unfair dismissal, superannuation, discrimination, sexual harassment and bullying.

Women can contact the NT Working Women's Centre to make an appointment. In situations where women require more ongoing support the NT Working Women’s Centre can provide a longer term case role. For example, in the case of an unfair dismissal or discrimination complaint, assistance can be provided to help women to prepare their forms and statements and support them throughout the process. Representation can also be provided to women who require it.

Services are provided throughout the NT via the phone and staff visit regional centres and some remote communities.

Group Training Sessions

The NT Working Women's Centre can provide group training sessions to women on topics such as: Women’s Rights at Work, Enterprise Bargaining, Discrimination, Bullying, Negotiating with Employers and the Fair Work Act 2009.

The NT Working Women's Centre Suppports Sexual Harassment in Australia Study

A national project addressing workplace sexual harassment is being undertaken by Paula McDonald from the Queensland Unviersity of Technology and Sara Charlesworth from the University of South Australia.  The researchers are interested in conducting confidential phone interviews with people who have experienced workplace sexual harassment.  The aim of this phase of the project is to understand the impacts of sexual harassment on those who have experienced it and to contribute to more effective policy development and implementation in workplaces and by human rights organisations.

If you or someone you know has experienced sexual harassment and would be willing to talk about these issues, please contact Paula or Sara for more information.
